Hyuna gave a small little nod, humming in acknowledgement as they continued on their way back to his room “I don’t know why they’re so approving all of a sudden…” her head pounded painfully as the buzz subsided, the further they moved away from the mess hall. “You need any help with that cereal of yours?” an amused grin took over her face as she watched him having to open the cereal with one hand.
“N-no, I got it. Just a little tricky that’s all!” Fiddling with the packet, placing it right at the top of his thighs, Hoya ripped off the lid and grinned triumphantly. “See? Who needs help when you’ve got killer thigh muscles like I do!” Patting them smugly, Hoya emptied them out into the bowl, immediately stuffing his face with them, smearing the chocolate coating around his mouth; turning back up to Hyuna afterwards with a childish expression. “I made a mess…”
Hyuna felt a sharp spike of anger hit her and she glanced down, noticing Hoya’s tensed expression. With a clenched jaw, Hyuna held her hand out “I believe that’s quite enough ‘praise’ for one day thank you. Hoya isn’t supposed to be out of his room long, so, if you’ll excuse us..” she was quick to wheel him in the other direction, careful to avoid anyone else as they left the room. Though as they moved down the hallway her brain was bringing her the horrific realization as to what the buzz in the back of her mind was. Where the foreign emotions were coming from…
Swallowing hard, Hoya forced a smile to the lieutenants as they left, though his eyes still said it all. Grabbing what he wanted quickly before Hyuna wheeled him off out of the mess room. “…thanks, I couldn’t stay in there with those asses any longer, I’d flip.” Though he didn’t notice that she was in her own world as he took to opening his cereal with a grin, the anger quickly subsiding.
Hyuna hummed in recognition of his words, the buzzing in the back of her head getting louder the longer she stayed in the room. As she nodded and began to hurry her movements, she noticed several lieutenants approach. She was immediately on edge as she knew they had a history of giving Hoya some major shit for being partnered with her. Hyuna’s eyes widened in shock as she heard their words of praise. Something of a leering feeling pricked in the back of her mind and she furrowed her brow, slowly looking around the room, her blonde locks falling into her face. As her gaze drifted back to the lieutenants, she noticed one of them was staring at her. Raising a brow, her expression instantly hardened as she stared back..
Hoya chewed on his lip as the lieutenants continued, praising his determination and efforts to bring Hyuna back; though the rest was a blur as the voice in his head began to talk over them. “So that’s all you’re good for, bringing Hyuna back to them and almost dying in the process, you’re like the lowest form of life to them. They’re praising you now, but give it a few days and they’ll be back to their old selves.” Clenching his fist, Hoya’s blood began to boil with rage…
Blinking a few times, Hyuna raised her brow at all the applause and sudden attention from all of the other S.T.A.R.S. members. They were kidding right? Why now were they giving Hoya this sort of praise? He’d deserved it way before this moment. And now because he almost died they were giving it to him..? Sighing, she clicked her tongue, Hyuna tried to zone out all the noise as the continued through the hall, up to the front meal line.
Though he was still happy to be receiving the praise, Hoya couldn’t help but feel a little disheartened from the circumstances; it seemed like if he wanted peer approval he should have gone out and been beaten half to death before hand. “Hey Hyuna, can we just grab and go? I don’t feel like eating in here now, not with everyone arou-” though before he could finish his sentence, several Lieutenants approached the two, thanking him for bringing Hyuna back ‘unscathed’. She was the apple of their eye after all.
Today of all days my wifi is out -.-
“Don’t worry. I’ll let you have your independence well enough.” she snickered, stopping to walk back to him, starting to push the wheelchair at a faster pace than they were previously travelling “Yah~ Don’t irritate your driver.” she stuck her tongue back out at him. Walking into the mess hall she instantly felt all eyes on them. And suddenly her headache was back full force and foreign emotions were poking at the back of her mind, causing her vision to go hazy for a moment.
As they entered, a large eruption of applause greeted them—both from Alpha and Bravo, Hoya looked down, twiddling his thumb and biting on his lip. It wasn’t that he didn’t feel entirely appreciated before this, but the fact that everyone was cheering now brought a smile to his face—after all of the prejudice, all of the sly comments on his pas, the comments on his relationship with Hyuna… Hoya finally felt accepted. And all it took was almost his life…
She let a small squeaking noise out, looking behind her with a brow raised “Why don’t you just let me push you? You’ll create uneven muscle weight in your arms.” she laughed. Walking slowly, she didn’t want to leave him too far behind though she still insisted that he be pushed, otherwise it would take them forever to get to the mess hall.
“Alright, I’ll let you push me…just around the mess hall though! I need to try be a little independent in all of this still you know!” Frowning childishly again, Hoya stopped rolling the wheel, applying the brakes stubbornly. “Come on then! Push me like you said you would Hyuna!” Sticking his tongue out of the corner of his mouth, Hoya grinned smugly to her soon after, quite enjoying being pushed into the mess hall as all eyes fell on him.
“Of course I am. And I can’t promise that I’ll answer but you sure can try…” she laughed and shook her head at him, returning another kiss from him before humming slightly “You and those damn coco pops. Aiissh. Yes. I’ll get you your stupid cereal.” she snickered, leaning over to kiss him again before standing up, stumbling but quickly recatching her balance. Yawning, she made her way to the door “Stay put. I’ll be right back~”
“Thank you Hyuna!” Grinning like a child to himself, Hoya pushed on the wheel with his free hand, slowly bumping into the back of her legs with an even bigger childish expression plastered across his face. “Hey! I’m coming too! I need to lean how to use this thing with one hand anyway.” Poking his tongue out, Hoya continued to roll along behind her, being grateful for the fact that he was wearing his sweat bottoms under the hospital robe—even though it couldn’t be done up properly because of his arm.
Sighing softly, she nodded, blinking to clear her vision of sleep “I’m alright.” she honestly didn’t really know the answer to that one but decided it would be best to try and convince herself otherwise. Humming softly, she smiled at him “I figured as much. You get too restless to just stay in bed.” returning his kiss gently, nodding at his words with a small sound of approval “And you have to trust that I can defend myself a lot more than you think..” she gave him a knowing look, referring to the incident that landed him in this place.
“Ah I see you’re still holding me to that! Aish… well alright, but now you know that if I can’t sleep at three in the morning, I’ll be ringing you to come wheel me around outside to tire me out!” Bursting out laughing, Hoya pressed his lips to hers again and smiled. “So, uh, wanna go get some breakfast? I’m starved, I haven’t eaten since before I came for you anyway…” pouting and scratching his cheek, Hoya tilted his head back up to Hyuna, asking in the cutest voice he could “you’ll get me coco pops right?”
Hyuna had finally gotten her brain settled down enough to drift off to sleep just as the sun was starting to rise. Her sleep was dreamless which she was actually thankful for though as the morning wore on, she could feel herself slowly being pulled back into the world of the living. She heard Hoya’s voice but was too tired to rouse awake just yet. She tried to move her limbs but they felt like dead weight, heavy and sluggish from sleep. Though as he shook her knee it startled her enough to jump awake. Eyes barely able to stay open for much longer than a few seconds. “Howon..?”
Rolling back and forth in the wheelchair, Hoya grinned to Hyuna, tapping her attention to his face. “Hey…are you alright? Someone left me a wheelchair to use, so uh you might wanna get used to the fact you’ll be pushing me around an awful lot!” Grinning cheekily, Hoya leant up and kissed her softly. “It’s gonna be alright Hyuna, I promise you we’ll find a way towards the light at the end of the tunnel. But please, you have to trust any decision I make…”
